The mission of SHAPE Idaho is to provide professional growth and development through leadership, support, encouragement and guidance in health, physical education, recreation, dance, fitness and sport based on the needs, interests and inherent capacities of the individual in today’s society.
Our 2026 SHAPE Idaho Conference: Connected in Motion was nothing short of an amazing event! Hosted at Boise State University and in collaboration with Western Society for Kinesiology & Wellness (WSKW), attendees were able to participate in presentations given by both organizations presenters. Whether that was rugby demonstrations in the BSU Student Recreation Center Gym or student thesis presentations in the BSU Space, the wide array of p.e., health, and wellness knowledge shared was unmatched. SHAPE Idaho was also able to announce our new President-Elect, Cate Egan-Loiacono, an Associate Professor from Univeristy of Idaho!

“Deary High School received a 2026 SHAPE Idaho Grant and purchased some new cycling helmets for PE classes to enjoy. In the past few years the program has revitalized our bicycle inventory, but were badly in need of some updated helmets. With these new helmets the program will be able to provide safer, well-fitting, high visibility helmets to our high school students as they enjoy exercise outdoors during our biking units. Thank you SHAPE Idaho!”

“The SHAPE Idaho Travel Grant was used to represent SHAPE Idaho while attending the SHAPE America National Convention & Expo in Kansas City. The grant supported my efforts to advocate for quality physical education, connect with health and physical education professionals from across the country, and bring back valuable resources, ideas, and professional learning opportunities to support HPE teachers and improve student wellness and instruction. Thank you SHAPE Idaho!"

“This year I was honored to present two sessions at the SHAPE America National Conference held in Kansas City: Basketball & Beatz and Transforming Secondary Health Education with Team based Learning. Through these sessions, I was able to share practical strategies that help educators create learning environments where students are not only active, but connected, confident, and genuinely engaged in the learning process. The grant I received from SHAPE Idaho helped to offset travel expenses, and was greatly appreciated. See you all in October!”

“We received a SHAPE Idaho Grant this spring and used the funds to purchase soccer goals for our PE classes to enjoy. Soccer is easily one of the most popular sports amongst our students, but we previously lacked proper goals and had always just used cones to simulate them. With these goals, students are able to more effectively and enjoyably play one of their favorite sports. They will also allow for our soccer student-athletes in our sports performance classes to better train in skills that usually require a goal and net. Thank you SHAPE Idaho!”

“With help from SHAPE Idaho grant funding, I was able to buy the color chalk powder needed to host a color run end of year celebration for an after school club I started this year, Physical Activity Club (PAC). This color run hosted 79 kids, many of parent & community volunteers, and was lots of fun! Thank you SHAPE Idaho for making this PAC Color Run Finale a great messy success!”

“We are excited to use these mats in our new combat sports class. With this class, students will receive PE credit as well as a sports science credit from NNU. Thanks SHAPE Idaho!”
